Plumbing


If you left school, sixth form or college recently, or are about to, you're probably thinking about what to do next. An apprenticeship in Plumbing will give you an industry-recognised training, leading to great career opportunities, and will allow you to earn while you learn



Examples of occupational competence covered by Plumbing apprenticeships and Advanced apprenticeships


  • Conform to general workplace safety
  • Confirm workplace activities and resources for work
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships
  • Confirm the occupational method of work
  • Installation, service, and maintenance activities on:- cold water, hot water, and sanitation systems.
  • Serving appliances, such as:- wash basins and sinks, rainwater systems
  • Cold water supply pipe work
  • Underground drainage pipe work
  • Weather proofing:- such as sheet lead and metallic materials

Examples of occupational areas covered by Plumbing apprentices and Advanced apprenticeships


  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Contribute to establishing the operational area
  • Contribute to the progress of operations
  • Assist with the organisation of resources
  • Serving industry and businesses to provide a range of services to the construction industry, and a diverse range of industrial, commercial, retail and domestic clients

A training Advisor will support you throughout your training. You will attend a college training centre and your training can be adapted to suit you and your employer. We’ll even help you find an employer if you don’t have one already.


  • Qualifications

Depending on your qualifications and experience, you may complete either an apprenticeship or an Advanced Apprenticeship. We will complete a training needs analysis and initial assessment with you, and develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). From the assessment we can recommend suitable courses for you, including help with basic maths or English if required.
