  • Options (Vision)

Brunel and Gordano Training run a program for 16 to 19 year olds based at the Lawrence Weston Centre.

The aim is to give you the training, confidence and experience to gain employment. This is a roll on, roll off scheme, so you can join at almost any time.

You will receive an Educational Maintenance Allowance of £30.00 per week, and a bonus of £5 each week you have full attendance. You will also receive free travel to and from the centre.

On the Vision course, you will study a range of core subjects and optional modules, depending on your career objectives, and the site you are studying at.

  • For educational and development reasons, you must do:

  • Literacy, Numeracy and I.C.T.

Depending on your current level, you will be working either one-to-one with a tutor, or in very small groups with other learners who are at the same level. Exams are taken when you are ready, rather than at set times. IT will begin with “skills for life” at Entry 3 level, then C.L.A.I.T. modules (word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations, desktop publishing), five of which will result in a Diploma.

  • Interaction through Sport and Games

Being fit and able to interact with other people is vital in the job world. You will take part in active games to build up fitness, such as badminton, football and basketball, together with less active, but good communication- and confidence-building games such as Uno, cards and ‘What am I?’.

  • Personal and Social Development

Building up confidence and self-esteem is important for young people to progress in life. Personal and Social Development helps you to develop the skills needed to manage in life. This will be covering subjects such as team working, managing relationships, healthy living, managing money and preparation for work.

  • Then, depending on the career you wish to pursue, you can choose to do:
  • Fork lift theory and practical (Must be 17)
  • Working with textiles
  • Food preparation, cooking and theory
  • C.S.C.S. (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme)
  • Motorcycle or car driving theory
  • Retail Training
